Dr. Louis J Sisk
BSc(Hons) MBChB MRCS(Glasg) MTrauma(Dist) APRCSA
Founder and CEO of Doccy and Medlo
Australian surgeon turned digital-health founder. Medical director of the Doccy telehealth clinic and founder of Medlo, the medical-locum marketplace now working with 600+ doctors.
About Louis
Louis was born in Belfast and went to Scotland for medicine. At Glasgow he read Cardiovascular Science with honours, took his MBChB, and passed the Membership exams of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow while working as a junior doctor in the NHS.
In 2017, between medical school and starting as a Foundation doctor, he flew to Lesvos to volunteer with Emergency Response Centre International at the Moria and Kara Tepe refugee camps. He worked as a clinician and medical liaison, standardised the camps' medical supplies and pharmacy, and built the patient-management system they used afterwards. Moria is where he started thinking about digital health; he tells the story in his 2025 Daily Telegraph interview.
He moved to Melbourne in 2019 and stayed. By November 2020 he had taken Australian citizenship. Across three years at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and Werribee Mercy he rotated through general surgery, upper GI and hepatobiliary, breast and endocrine, and ortho-geriatric trauma as a registrar. On the Ortho-Geriatric service he built the hospital's Neck-of-Femur pathway, which is still the protocol St Vincent's uses today and which won him the hospital's Clinical Excellence and Leadership Award. He also sat on the Deteriorating Patient Committee and wrote the orthopaedic SARS-CoV-2 surgical protocol during COVID-19. Louis is a cyclist: through the lockdowns he cycled the 25 kilometres each way to his shifts. He did his Master of Traumatology at the University of Newcastle in the same period and graduated with Distinction.
In the evenings after hospital shifts Louis taught himself to code.
In December 2022 he launched Medlo, a medical-locum marketplace. Medlo now works with 600+ doctors across 120 Australian hospitals. It was named Victorian Health Week Startup of the Year in 2023 and has graduated from KPMG High Growth Ventures and ANDHealth ACTIVATE.
Doccy, the consumer telehealth clinic he runs as medical director, came out of the same work.
He still picks up locum registrar and SMO shifts across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.
Every year since 2022 Louis has run Jumble in the Rungle, a music festival for the Black Dog Institute, Australia's independent mental-health research centre. So far the festival has raised over AU$23,000.
“Australia gives you this ability, from a lifestyle point of view, to be relaxed and be driven. Those three things are just a beautiful melting point to allow people to dream big.”

Louis' role at Doccy
Louis reviews Doccy's medical-certificate and telehealth pages himself. Every page carries a “Medically reviewed by” byline, a review date, and a link back here so patients, employers, universities and regulators can verify the clinician behind the review.
Our editorial and complaints processes are on the clinical standards page. Medical certificates at Doccy are issued by AHPRA-registered Australian doctors after a telehealth consultation, in line with the Medical Board of Australia's technology-based consultation guidelines.
