University of Divinity extension request

Divinity's evidence, from a doctor who actually assesses you.

The University of Divinity's Assessment Procedure does not address consultation modality, and does not specify what supporting documentation an extension request needs. Its extension form lists a medical certificate or statutory declaration as the evidence.

Launching 19 September

Start a Divinity consult opens on 19 September. We are finishing the doctor-completed forms for every university. Bookmark this page and come back then.

What Divinity asks for

What your Divinity medical certificate must state.

Divinity has no practitioner section. The certificate carries the doctor's opinion, so what it states is what decides the outcome.

  1. 01The date you were seen and the period you were affected
  2. 02That the illness prevented you completing the assessment by its due date
  3. 03That the circumstances were unforeseen, which is the ground the policy sets
  4. 04The practitioner's name, registration number, practice details and signature

What the same evidence is for

One consultation, three Divinity outcomes.

Students search for these by name. Divinity treats them as one process with different outcomes.

1

Divinity lecturer's extension

This is the extension to request during semester, before the assessment due date. It is the right route for an illness that has delayed a piece of work you can still finish. A dated medical certificate covering the due date supports the request.

2

Divinity dean's extension

A Dean's Extension is for time beyond the end of the exam period, which is outside a lecturer's authority to grant. It uses its own form and goes to your college. The grounds are the same unforeseen circumstances, but the reach is longer.

3

Divinity relief from late submission penalties

Work handed in after the due date without an approved extension is penalised on a sliding scale, from ten per cent in the first week to forty per cent at three to four weeks. An approved extension is what prevents the penalty, so the request is worth lodging even when the delay is short.

How to apply at Divinity

From unwell to lodged, in five steps.

  1. 1

See a doctor while you are unwell, and tell them the assessment due date so the certificate covers it.

  2. 2

Check whether you need more time during semester or beyond the end of the exam period. The first is a Lecturer's Extension, the second a Dean's Extension.

  3. 3

Download the matching extension request form from the University of Divinity forms page.

  4. 4

Complete the form, describing the unforeseen circumstances, and attach the medical certificate or a statutory declaration.

  5. 5

Submit it to your affiliated college before the due date, or as soon as practical, so a late submission penalty does not start accruing.

What your certificate carries

Facts a university can check, not claims.

Every Doccy certificate links to a verification page. This is what Divinity will see when it follows the QR code.

Divinity questions

Asked the way students search them.

Answers reflect Divinity's published policy on 16 Sept 2026. Divinity decides what it accepts.

Does Divinity accept online medical certificates?

The University of Divinity's published assessment material does not address consultation modality, and does not detail supporting documentation requirements. Its extension form names a medical certificate or statutory declaration as the evidence. Check with your college registrar if you are unsure.

What is the Dean's Extension at the University of Divinity?

It is the extension used when you need time beyond the end of the exam period. Extensions during semester, before the due date, are Lecturer's Extensions instead. Each has its own request form on the University's forms page.

What is the University of Divinity extension deadline?

The University does not publish a fixed post-assessment window. A Lecturer's Extension is requested before the assessment due date, and a Dean's Extension covers time beyond the exam period. Lodge the request as early as you can.

What happens if I submit late without an extension?

The Assessment Policy applies a graduated penalty. Up to twenty four hours is at the lecturer's discretion, one to seven days attracts ten per cent, one to two weeks twenty per cent, two to three weeks thirty per cent, and three to four weeks forty per cent.

Where do I lodge a University of Divinity extension request?

With your affiliated college, the college that delivers your course, rather than a central university portal. The college registrar is the contact for what evidence they expect with the form.
