RMIT's special consideration page does not address consultation modality. It requires the supporting document to be completed by the registered medical or health practitioner who treated you, and points to the AHPRA register, but it neither permits nor rules out a telehealth consultation.

An extension moves an assignment due date without changing how the work is marked. RMIT handles short extensions separately from full special consideration. Evidence requirements are lighter, but a dated certificate makes the request straightforward.
This is the full application for when illness or difficult personal circumstances affected an assessment you sat, missed or submitted late. It is lodged online at specon.rmit.edu.au within five working days of the assessment date. An Impact Assessment Statement completed by your treating practitioner is the recommended supporting document.
Where a condition is ongoing rather than a one-off episode, RMIT uses equitable assessment arrangements instead of repeated special consideration applications. The Impact Assessment Statement asks the practitioner whether the condition is permanent, episodic, deteriorating or improving, which is what routes you here.

See a registered health practitioner while you are affected, and tell them which assessment the illness hit and on what date.
Download the Impact Assessment Statement and ask the practitioner to complete their section, including the ability ratings and the course of the condition.
Check the statement carries the consultation date, the impact period, and the practitioner's AHPRA registration number and signature.
Log in to specon.rmit.edu.au and start the application for the affected course and assessment.
Lodge it within five working days of the assessment date or due date, attaching the Impact Assessment Statement.

RMIT's published policy does not address consultation modality either way. Absence of a restriction is not the same as acceptance, so the safer path is a certificate backed by a real consultation.
Five working days after the assessment date or due date. Supporting documents can follow shortly after the application, but the application itself must be lodged in that window. Late applications need an explanation.
It is RMIT's practitioner form. The practitioner rates your ability to travel, sustain reading and concentrate for one to two hours against what is usual for you, records whether the condition was determined or reported, and describes its course. It is recommended for health-related applications.
Most students apply online at specon.rmit.edu.au. HDR candidates and some pathway students apply by contacting the special consideration team instead. You attach the Impact Assessment Statement to the online application.
Yes. RMIT runs extensions of time separately from special consideration, and an extension is the right route when you simply need more time to submit. Special consideration is for assessments already sat, missed, or affected beyond what an extension fixes.
