Flinders University deferred assessment

Flinders's evidence, from a doctor who actually assesses you.

Flinders' deferred assessment page states the deadline and directs students to the University's Assessment Policy and Procedures for the evidence rules. Neither the page nor its guidance addresses telehealth or the modality of the consultation.

Launching 19 September

Start a Flinders consult opens on 19 September. We are finishing the doctor-completed forms for every university. Bookmark this page and come back then.

What Flinders asks for

What your Flinders medical certificate must state.

Flinders has no practitioner section. The certificate carries the doctor's opinion, so what it states is what decides the outcome.

  1. 01The date you were seen and the period you were unfit
  2. 02That you were unable to sit the exam or complete the assessment on the relevant date
  3. 03The practitioner's name, AHPRA registration and practice details
  4. 04A signature and the date of issue

What the same evidence is for

One consultation, three Flinders outcomes.

Students search for these by name. Flinders treats them as one process with different outcomes.

1

Flinders deferred assessment

A deferred assessment lets you sit the exam at a later date when illness stops you attending the scheduled one. You lodge it through the Flinders Student System no later than three business days after the exam, with a medical certificate covering the exam date.

2

Flinders assignment extension

Extensions on coursework are requested in FLO through your topic coordinator rather than the deferred assessment route. A dated certificate covering the days you could not work on the task supports the request.

3

Flinders withdrawal without academic penalty

Where illness runs long enough that finishing the topic is not realistic, Flinders can consider a withdrawal that does not count against your academic record. This needs evidence covering the longer period, not the exam day alone.

How to apply at Flinders

From unwell to lodged, in five steps.

DeadlineNo later than three business days after the exam
  1. 1

See a doctor while you are unwell, ideally on the day of the exam or the assessment due date.

  2. 2

Get a medical certificate that names the dates you were unfit and covers the exam or due date itself.

  3. 3

Decide the route: a deferred exam through the Flinders Student System, or an extension in FLO with your topic coordinator.

  4. 4

Lodge the deferred assessment application and attach the certificate.

  5. 5

Submit no later than three business days after the exam. If you are outside that window, contact Flinders Connect rather than lodging without an explanation.

What your certificate carries

Facts a university can check, not claims.

Every Doccy certificate links to a verification page. This is what Flinders will see when it follows the QR code.

Flinders questions

Asked the way students search them.

Answers reflect Flinders's published policy on 16 Sept 2026. Flinders decides what it accepts.

How do I apply for a Flinders deferred assessment?

Lodge the application through the Flinders Student System and attach a medical certificate covering the exam date. Applications must be submitted no later than three business days after the exam.

Does Flinders accept online medical certificates?

Flinders' deferred assessment page does not address telehealth or modality. It refers students to the University's Assessment Policy and Procedures for the evidence rules. Contact Flinders Connect if you want the position confirmed before you apply.

What is the Flinders deferred assessment deadline?

Three business days after the exam. That is a short window, so get the certificate on the day you are unwell rather than after you recover.

How do I get a Flinders assignment extension?

Extensions on coursework go through FLO with your topic coordinator, not the deferred assessment application. Attach a dated certificate covering the days the illness stopped you working on the task.

Does Flinders have a doctor's form to fill in?

No. Flinders does not publish a practitioner form for deferred assessment. You upload a medical certificate, so it needs to state the dates you were unfit and cover the exam or due date on its own.

Unwell before a Flinders assessment? Talk to a doctor today.

Doccy is a telehealth service. Universities decide what evidence they accept. We issue what the doctor's assessment supports.
