What ECU asks for

Special consideration covers an assessment task or exam affected by unexpected illness or circumstances outside your control. ECU asks for verifiable evidence of a substantially detrimental effect on your ability to study for or sit the task. Lodge it within 7 calendar days of the due date or exam.
Where illness runs past the census date, ECU can withdraw you from units without the academic or financial penalty. The Medical or Health Professional Assessment Form is built for this: it asks the practitioner whether full, partial or no withdrawal is supported, and whether the condition existed before census.
If illness stops you sitting a final exam, ECU can consider a deferred sit. The evidence needs to cover the exam date itself and state when you are fit to resume study, so the exam can be rescheduled sensibly.

Attend a consultation and ask the practitioner to complete the form, including the withdrawal recommendation and the census date questions.
Check the form names the date treatment began, the fit-to-resume date and the basis of the assessment.
Log in to the ECU student intranet and lodge the special consideration or withdrawal without penalty application.
Attach the completed form and lodge within 7 calendar days of the assessment due date or final examination.

Lodge the application through the ECU student intranet within 7 calendar days of the assessment due date or final exam, with the Medical or Health Professional Assessment Form attached. The form is completed by your practitioner, not by you.
