What Notre Dame asks for
Notre Dame has no practitioner section. The certificate carries the doctor's opinion, so what it states is what decides the outcome.
What the same evidence is for
Students search for these by name. Notre Dame treats them as one process with different outcomes.
Special consideration covers illness, misadventure, bereavement or other circumstances outside your control that stopped you completing an assessment or working to your usual standard. You apply within three business days of the due date, with evidence. The Campus Student Adviser decides what relief, if any, applies.
An extension is the most common relief: extra time to submit the same assessment. Notre Dame will not grant one unless you supply both the application form and supporting evidence such as a medical certificate. The certificate needs to cover the period around the due date.
Where an extension does not fit, for example a timed or in-class task, Notre Dame can set a replacement assessment. The evidence needs to show you were unable to attend or complete the original task on the day.
If illness stops you sitting a final exam, apply through the deferred exam route rather than the general special consideration form. Apply as early as you can, because outcomes are slower during peak exam periods.
