Southern Cross University special consideration

SCU's evidence, from a doctor who actually assesses you.

Southern Cross's special consideration page does not mention telehealth or online medical certificates. It asks for a medical certificate from a relevant health practitioner showing the date you were examined and the dates you were impacted.

Launching 19 September

What SCU asks for

What your SCU medical certificate must state.

SCU has no practitioner section. The certificate carries the doctor's opinion, so what it states is what decides the outcome.

  1. 01The date on which you were examined
  2. 02A statement of the dates you were impacted
  3. 03That it comes from a relevant health practitioner, named and signed

What the same evidence is for

One consultation, three SCU outcomes.

Students search for these by name. SCU treats them as one process with different outcomes.

1

SCU special consideration

Special consideration covers circumstances beyond your control that affected an assessment task. You lodge a Special Consideration application form with the accompanying documents through MyEnrolment. Once the due date has passed you have two working days to apply.

2

SCU extension before the due date

If you know in advance that you cannot meet a due date, apply at least one day before it. That is a shorter route than a full application after the fact. A dated certificate naming the period you are affected supports the request.

3

SCU missed exam

Where illness stopped you sitting an exam, the same special consideration application applies. The certificate has to show the date you were examined by the practitioner and the dates you were impacted, and those dates need to cover the exam. Lodge within two working days after the exam.

How to apply at SCU

From unwell to lodged, in five steps.

DeadlineAt least one day before the due date for an extension, and no later than two working days after the due date of the assessment task once it has passed
  1. 1

See a health practitioner while you are unwell, ideally on the day of the assessment or exam.

  2. 2

Check the certificate records both the date you were examined and the dates you were impacted, because Southern Cross asks for both.

  3. 3

Log in to MyEnrolment at scu.t1cloud.com and open the Special Consideration application form.

  4. 4

Attach the certificate. Do not upload images that could be considered graphic.

  5. 5

Lodge at least one day before the due date if you are asking for an extension, or within two working days after the due date if the task has already passed.

What your certificate carries

Facts a university can check, not claims.

Every Doccy certificate links to a verification page. This is what SCU will see when it follows the QR code.

SCU questions

Asked the way students search them.

Answers reflect SCU's published policy on 16 Sept 2026. SCU decides what it accepts.

Does SCU accept online medical certificates?

Southern Cross's special consideration page does not mention telehealth or online medical certificates. It asks for a medical certificate from a relevant health practitioner that shows the date you were examined and the dates you were impacted. Silence on modality is not acceptance, so those two dates need to be clear.

What is the SCU special consideration deadline?

If you are asking for an extension before the task is due, apply at least one day before the due date. If the due date has passed, apply no later than two working days after it. Applications go through MyEnrolment.

Where do I apply for special consideration at SCU?

Through MyEnrolment at scu.t1cloud.com. You submit a Special Consideration application form with the accompanying documents attached. Southern Cross does not publish a practitioner form, so a medical certificate is what you attach.

What does my medical certificate need to say for Southern Cross?

It needs the date on which you were examined and a statement of the dates you were impacted. Because there is no practitioner form, the certificate carries the whole of the medical evidence. Ask the doctor to name the assessment period you were affected by.

Can I apply for an SCU extension after the due date?

Yes, but it is then a special consideration application rather than an extension request, and you have two working days after the due date to lodge it. Applying at least one day before the due date is the cleaner route where you can see the problem coming.
