Start my UQ consultApply for a deferred exam through mySI-net and attach evidence covering the exam date. The application is due no later than 5 calendar days after the original exam. Late applications need separate approval, so lodge it as soon as you know you cannot sit.
UQ asks you to apply on or before the assessment due date and time. A request counts as on time if UQ receives it within 24 hours of that due date and time. Extensions are not available for exams of any kind.
UQ's published requirements do not mention telehealth or online certificates. They judge the document on its contents: letterhead, provider number, practitioner contact details, the dates affected and no handwritten amendments. A certificate that meets those requirements and can be verified is assessed like any other.
Use the my.requests portal, select the assessment item, state your reason and attach your evidence. Apply for each affected item separately, and continue working on the assignment while the request is assessed.
A registered medical doctor or specialist, a registered nurse or a registered pharmacist. Onshore students need an Australian practitioner. The practitioner must be independent, so a certificate from a near relative is not accepted.

Apply within 24 hours of the due date and time. One request per assessment item.
Apply for a deferred exam no later than 5 calendar days after the exam.
Attach the certificate. Keep the original for six months in case UQ verifies it.
What the certificate must state, and what gets it refused.
The practitioner's or hospital's name and contact details, on official letterhead with a provider number. The dates you were impacted by the medical condition. No handwritten amendments: UQ will not accept a certificate that has been altered by hand. For a removal of course application, the nature of the condition and how it affected your ability to complete the course.
UQ accepts certificates from a registered medical doctor or specialist, a registered nurse or a registered pharmacist. If you are studying onshore, the practitioner must be Australian. The practitioner cannot be a near relative such as your spouse, partner, child, brother, sister or parent. Keep the original document for at least six months. UQ can ask to see it or contact the practice to verify it. Evidence must be in written English, or translated by a NAATI accredited translator.
Three outcomes, one application, the same evidence.
An extension moves the due date of an assignment or take-home task. You apply through my.requests and attach a medical certificate covering the dates you were affected.
A deferred exam lets you sit the paper in the deferred and supplementary exam period when illness stopped you sitting it at the scheduled time. Apply through mySI-net and attach evidence that covers the exam date.
If you receive a grade of 3, or a non-graded N, in a course you deferred, you may be eligible for supplementary assessment. It is a separate step from the deferred exam application and is arranged with your faculty or school rather than through a new medical application.
